I have two BC-221-AKs, both are in storage at the moment, and we have 
had a tragedy in my brother's family, so I will be unable to take any photos 
for a while.

Yes. There are no pilot lights on any BC-221: they were battery powered. 
Neither of my -AKs have any pilot lights. Mine are all stock too.
