[ARC5] Jammers and lights

Speaking of lights and tubes, I always thought it interesting that WWII vintage radar jammers used 931 photomultiplier tunes with a light shining into them as a modulation source.  

I guess this sort of makes sense, in that what you are trying to do is fill the other guy's radarscope with light so he can't see you.  But it also seems like a needlessly complex way of doing that.
