It just happens that I have one of those sets from the 70s. That is not
nearly 70 years old and the manufacturers, although still in business,
no longer support it. The TX and RX each have some top secret,
proprietary parts that are unobtanium. I can probably work around that,
in fact I already did once (a transistor sub), but some of the
workarounds could be real dogs. Even my Ten Tec is doubtful about
replacement, proprietary parts from the 80s. My RAK manual on the other
hand spells out details like the turns counts of the various RF
inductors and other info needed to fabricate new parts. But so far I
don't have to do that.
