Radio Americas (nee Swan Radio) was on 1160 kHz and 6.0 MHz in the 
60's.   If anyone collects old magazines, /Electronics Illustrated/ had 
an article on Swan written by Tom Kneitel.  The issue is July 1968.  He 
got permission to go there and see what was up.  Of course,  he was 
treated well but no admissions whatever as to who actually owned the 
station, then identified as being owned and operated by "The Gibraltar 
Steamship Company".  Its a good article and many of artifacts of the 
operation were around when I got there.  The rolling stock containing 
the various studios and equipment were shamefully deep-sixed off one end 
of the island. If you look at one of the station pictures, you'll see a 
Chelsea Maritime Commission clock on the wall.  It now resides in the 
shack, here.  The Swan Island Island Playboy Club, also mentioned in the 
article, was but a vacant concrete pad by the time I got there in the 
mid-70's.
