[ARC5] Was Lend-Lease - now purpose of list postings.

Hello Geoff,
Thank you for your observation. Certainly I was aware of the basis of
the comment I made - viz that the US government kept no record of the
cost of Lend-Lease during WWII. That comment was made in the most US of
books, the Time-Life series of books on WW-II. My brother has the full
set in his library. I regard Time-Life as well informed.

So from that perspective my understanding was based on an authoritative
source.

Certainly I might "google" for info. Perhaps I should have done that.
However I have found that posting a question on this site gives a MUCH
wider perspective than what I may read using Google or Wikipedia. The
knowledge of the subscribers to this list is diverse and well informed.
In this case my guess about replies turned out to be correct, and apart
from postings on the list I had a number of private or "on-the-side"
communications that were very interesting. The value of the ARC-5
reflector comes from the large collective knowledge of the list-members.

Now to the point of YOUR e-mail.
I'm simply a not-particularly-well-informed person seeking to learn
something, and the intent of my inquiry was to learn something. That's
all. We all like to learn - that's one of the delights of life.

Perhaps you can explain what I miss?
I wouldn't like my posting to offend.

Best wishes from Australia.
