[ARC5] P-40 Found In Desert

Just possibly the pilot was a REAL ham who knew what he was doing.   This 
was back when you had to know something, including code to get a  ticket, not 
just read a book and memorize the answers they were looking  for.

I find that somewhat strange. Aircraft radios don't just  have two power
wires and an antenna. Unless the 'plane's harness was  chopped up in the
crash, I'd have thought the chances of getting the radio  working would be
much better in the plane.

It's a feat that I'd find  taxing with just a knife and no other tools.

Maybe some nomads came by  in the intervening years and removed, then
abandoned thye  stuff?
