First time I've ever seen the BC-222! Modulated oscillators are "passe" on
HF and Vhf thru 2 meters I think now. Closest thing I've used to the BC-222
was an old TBY that I used on 6 meters for a while! (Back in early 60's I
think)

WRONG!
I had one of these units working in high school. Built a battery box out of
plywood to go below it using then available batteries. The rig is a
modulated oscillator so on 10 meters, one had to be very careful with
modulation
to avoid FMing. However I did get a 5-9 out of Havana, Cuba from the
parking lot of my high school in Asheville, NC. This was back in the 50s
when
ten was really open. I could never find anyone to chat with on 6 meters,
except by buddy who had a similar rig.
The one on the auction site has been modified. The original connector was
round and acceoted a telephone handset with PTT in the handle. I still have
my 222 somewhere and some time ago, found a TM for it. There was a lot of
additional accessories that went with the rig including a wood box and a
canvas carrying bag.I do have the original handset and antenna for the rig.
