I think so, but, if you had a chunk of 100% pure Radium and just left it
sitting somewhere, pretty soon it would no longer be pure Radium. It
decays rapidly into an entire zoo of stuff, and it'd be very hard to
figure out just what.

In addition to that, are you sure the Japs started with pure Radium?

Frankly, I'd not bet that the emissions are just Alpha.
