Have not seen the pictures but this is a description of a PB4Y-2 Privateer, a highly modified B-24 bomber built exclusively for USN use in WWII. The fuselage was lengthened, the twin tail was replaced by a single one and the turbosuperchargers were removed.

The Privateer was one of the few aircraft that used ERCO turrets, both the ball in the nose and the side turrets. And ERCO also built my personal aircraft in 1946.

I wrote an article on the PB4Y-2 and USN VPB-109 unit that appeared in the Nov 2002 issue of Aviation History magazine.

VPB-109 was the only unit to employ the Bat radar guided missile operationally in WWII.
