I think Cd plating was used on steel and Nickel on brass, but I don't know
why. It might be a plating compatability issue.

Well, I'm guessing, but #2-56 might be too easy to overtorque and be
inadequate to hold the capacitors and magnetics under vibration. It makes
a lot of sense from the manufacturing and service perspective to use
essentially the same screws everywhere. The color coding is a nice
reeminder, but not functionally essential.
