HP-606B - Removing screws
Xcelite makes several hex wrenches in 7/64 " size.
The 99-PS-60 set contains both 7/64 AND 9/64.
The small short set (forget the set number) has
the 7/64 as one of the eight bits in the set.
Quite a few other tool suppliers have these. I
suspect you can even get them in the "T-handle"
style.
I did not intend to mislead when I "GUESSED" that
the know screws MIGHT be Bristol/spline.
I don't think -hp- ever used Bristol head screws, what
they did use a lot of were Pozidriv screws. These look like
Philips head but Philips screwdrivers will not work and will
bugger them. Pozidriv screws do not cam out as easily as
Philips and are more suitable for use in power operated
drivers so they were popular for a time. However, they were
not in use very long before being replaced mostly with Torx
or other odd driver patterns. I got a set of Pozidriv
screwdrivers from Excelite, I think also via Amazon.
Los Angeles is a very big city and still an important
center for electronics, but odd tools and hardware are not
obtainable here so I've gotten to rely more and more on the
internet. Also for many parts; just try to find stuff like
high voltage film capacitors or lots of other boatanchor
type parts. Its getting so that the folks in stores where
you would expect to find things never even heard of them. A
young fellow in a hardware store I went into never heard of
shellac! Wait until you need parts for old plumbing...
