Exactly right. The Germans missed the point in such matters.
They weren't building a radio to fly to Mars. They were
building them to fight a war. The Brits and the Americans
"got it." Built it sturdy and reliable, but simple so 19-year-old,
90-day-training kids could fix it. Make it easy to repair and
easy to stock spare parts. The German radios are beautiful
and technical marvels, but not suited for war service.
