[ARC5] RAT and RAT-1: The Arizona Connection (off topic now)

Hello List,
I'm way, way off topic here, but I personally believe that a good number
of the "problems" with our political system can be traced back to - yes
- us voters. Putting political views and party politics aside, if
voters were more critical of politicians (in a constructive humanitarian
sense), and created an underlying standard of conduct (unstated,
expected) that expectation would lift the general standard of
performance.
At the same time this idea is hopelessly idealistic. Even that great
man (FDR) said he never let his left hand know what his right hand was
doing. Beyond that, consider his fireside talk, at the beginning of
WWII, where he spoke about the neighbor's need to borrow a hose. (In
FDR's talk the neighbor's house was on fire.) In FDR's example the
neighbor returned the hose (supposedly what was borrowed), but in
reality lend-lease amounted to the WATER, not the hose itself. As I
understand history (correct me if I'm wrong) NO ACCOUNT was kept of the
cost of lend lease.
Without doubt, this amounted to the greatest act of generosity in
history, but FDR had to sell his intent to The Congress and the American
nation.
Churchill's Britain shares in this great generous act.
OK, I take my shirt off for the public whipping.
I'm off-topic.
Don't forget to throw on a bucket of water on my back when you're done.
