[ARC5] Surplus Disposal

P&H and Central Electronics both used ARC5 transmitters and parts.
P&H had a linear amplifier LA-400 which had 4 modified 1625's and capacitor
and roller inductor from ARC 5 TX and Central Electronics used modified
ARC 5 transmitters for VFOs.
I think P&H ran out of cheap roller inductors and went to a band switch
for the LA-400C. Oh yes, the LA400 was a perfect match for the
Central Electronics 20A. The 20A would drive the LA400 to output and both
the CE20A and the LA400 cabinets matched the Collins 75A3.
The 3 together would perform about like a modern day transceiver but
with a bit over twice the power output and much larger and heaver.
Also, many more knobs and no stupid computer like menus.
Now, thinking about it, I would not mind having a LA-400.

Let's not forget World Radio Labs (Leo Meyerson), The Heath Company, and
other "kit Companies" , really got their start, by buying up those tons of
WWII Surplus parts, and repackaging into kits.
