I agree it's a remarkable set.

Sadly, it was much maligned by hams after WW II who (wrongly) thought
that, because it had a coax connector, it could be hooked directly to a 50
Ohm antenna. Not so. Just as with an ARC-5 type, it is designed to have a
series resonant antenna circuit. In the WS 19, the rollerductor function
has been remoted to the Variometer.
