The Schneider book talks about the Germans capturing, intact, a
British command vehicle with its radios, which they sent back to a rear
area to be analyzed. No results given. Also, they talk about some German
tank platoon commanders turning off their receivers when they received
ridiculous orders from higher-ups. (Like Nelson putting his telescope to
his blind eye early in his career when he did not want to see signal
flag orders from the flagship.)

I have seen German WW II radio units and though I never analyzed
them, they were built physically differently than either U.S. or Brit
sets. Japanese sets I have seen seemed to be rough copies of pre WW II
American gear. In fact, the Imperial Japanese Navy was in contact with
Aircraft Radio Corp. in the 1930s, seeking to buy equipment.
