     I think this was probably in response to a message 
cross-posted to a dozen or more mailing lists. The reply 
will go to those the replier is a member of, some of which 
probably did not get the original. I don't know if the 
original poster was trolling or just ignorant (or stupid).
     Even experienced people cross-post to mailing lists, in 
general not a good thing to do.
