[ARC5] VFO provenance

I had a 20A and the 458 VFO once. Gave it to a Jesuit priest-friend of mine
who taught high-school physics. He would fire it all up into a dummy load and
show the kids on an o'scope how the phasing and carrier null worked.

Just before he died, he gave it back to me, and I have it now.

It is in the queue to be restored and fired up.

I did use it for a while "back then" and was quite impressed with it. I
especially remember that I was quite surprised at the stability of the 458-
VFO.

I think I need one of those optional VOX units for it, though.

Has anyone here read the story that was printed in ER magazine some time
ago about the CIA agent who bought and used a 20A/458VFO in Cambodia?

It is a very interesting story, especially how the original user was tracked
down. The unit was one of the first sold by Wes Schumm, and even has his
signature on the "hurry-up" order to get it built and shipped.
