Although I'm constantly searching for the 314S-4, I'm ready to build a
reasonable facsimile thereof in the meantime. Indeed it shouldn't be a
problem (I'm waiting for a used original manual I found through
Abebooks.com) to duplicate the circuit. I may not have a 20 position switch
in my junk box, but I think I have 10 position ones. At this point I don't
anticipate using more positions than that.
And indeed, dynamotor noise is music to my ears - it tells me that the
system is operating as designed; definitely doesn't bother me. Since I use
all my equipment they way they were intended to be used, the earphones
filter out most of the dynamotor noise. I don't find a well-maintained large
dynamotor's noise that loud, either - the ATD and the ART-13 dynamotors are
really not that loud. The BC-348 is barely noticeable, even when not wearing
the headphones.
