Very rare for the screen bypass to fail, but it does happen.
Better to check. I spent a lot of time scratching my head
the very first time a plate bypass failed and my PA tank circuit
wouldn't resonate. Just couldn't believe that part, which
I'd never seen fail in 40 years, failed! DOH!

Have you checked the "bathtub" cap on the back chassis skirt?
Leakage in this will kill your grid drive.

50 pFd won't do on 80 mtrs.
Put your Antenna Coupling control about half way.
Use a 200 pFd at 1500 V or higher good-quality cap.
Feed to a 50-ohm load and tune both Ant. Ind.
and Ant. Coupling for max out.

Yes, yes, guys- I know all about how I'm just inserting
"capacitance and tuning it out," etc. etc. blah blah.
I don't care what the book says.
This works. End of problem.

When I get home from work, I'll re-check the publish
power supply divider diagram against the manual.
I ain't no angel- just a man and I can make a mistake.
Will look again.
