It's a Bendix Model 3801. The receiver IF/BFO and AF stages, transmitter
modulator, and dynamotor are all in another separate section larger and
heavier than the Bendix MP-28 used with the TA-12. A thick shielded cable
connects the two sections.
The system manuals aren't too rare...Jack Antonio made me a copy, and later
I found an original on eBay.

There seems to be a few of these "out there". I came across a complete set
including the connecting cable several years ago and have made some cosmetic
improvements to its condition, but nothing else. My set is clearly marked
as having been in US Navy service, but I've never found any reference to
its USN use elsewhere. It is way too elaborate and capable for a "ferry
service" set, but it would be appropriate for light observation aircraft
service, similar to the AVT-112/AVR-20A1/VA-126 plus AN/ARR-13 set that
the USAAF used in such service.
Jack Antonio has doubtless done more recently to put one on the air than
anyone else I know. So, Jack...?
