The added transformer will behave as a Current Transformer.
Remember, there are TWO equations for the operation of a transformer:
V1 = R*V2
I1 = 1/R*I2
BOTH must be satisfied. because V1*I1 = V2*I2 in an ideal transformer....
Conservation of Energy.
In practice, if you leave the primary open, the voltage will be
indeterminately high, set by the turns ratio times the voltage across the
secondary; the secondary voltage will rise until the core saturates just
enough to supply the load current to the radio.
It is never a good idea to open-circuit the secondary of a current
transformer.
