After using the resistor in series with the buffer capacitor in my 
Mallory vibrapack to determine that the cap was leaky, I went looking 
for data to try to determine what value it might have been before 
turning into a 111  ohm (black-black-black).   And I found the 
motherlode of vibrator information, the Mallory publication "Fundamental

Everything you'd ever want to know is in this book - all the transformer 
design equations, "timing capacitors", and even how to pick the right 
laminations.   More that *I* wanted to know, but there's a lot more to 
this technology than I'd estimated. Comprehensive and very well done - 
enjoy!
