[ARC5] The 6U8 - what's the big deal with this "toob"

The life of the 6U8 generally is nowhere near as long as the 6EA8 which can be used to replace all of the 6U8 tubes in the KWM-2 and S-Line equipment EXCEPT for the tone oscillator in the 32S- series and KWM-2 series. For some reason, the 6EA8 often causes problems when used as the tone oscillator. Why? I really don't know. Maybe, some day, when I finally get the time, I might try and see just why the 6U8 functions considerably better as the tone oscillator.

Subject: [ARC5] The 6U8 - what's the big deal with this "toob"
Hello List,
I would like to understand the question about 6U8's, in "Collins" mind.
Why is the 6U8 considered to be a "hateful toob".
