[ARC5] sound ranging

hello guys , firstly , thanks for the offers ! the tx i am restoring is a BC458 A from the scr 274 and is in bare metal. it also needs the bottom cover . maybe i would be better off gettinng a complete one somewhere !
the british sound ranging equipment was made by pye , and was the "equipment sound ranging no.2 ". i had a nice set and sold it some time ago.the case was from the W/S22 and the actual works were from the W/S18 . there were 5 outstations received by the unususual base station. this had 5 separate IF strips. the time comparison recorder was made by cambridge instruments. 
the colonel who was in charge of the training area here at the time saw it and said that he was on a sound ranging unit at the end of the war . the germans had a similar device.  early one morning in france he was leading his patrol out to position the transmitter etc along the hedge in a large field.  they looked across and saw a german patrol the other side of the field going in the opposite direstion with their equipment. both german and british decided that it was best to leave well alone and carried on with their business . alan G4GEN
