I can kind of vouch for the Mustang having its radiator scoop provide thrust, as my late wife was an expert on Mustangs. On the other hand, you did not belly a Mustang into water if you lost the engine. You bailed out. The scoop grabbed so much water it did not float. (See the pilot's operating manual.) - Gordon White
