We are making great progress on our 1945 Lockheed Harpoon project. She is a
flier and has been to several air shows already.
Re recently installed the racks and ARC-5 gear, ART-13 and APN-1. The radar
station is coming along nicely as we are building the table and overhead
racking.
Up in the cockpit we would like to install the two ARB receivers but we do
not have the shock mounts. Would any of you happen to have one or two shock
mounts that we could use? We will make them if we have to but original is
preferred. Any ideas?
We will have nearly 100% of the radio and radar gear installed in this great
old Navy patrol bomber. We have a few hard working volunteers who are doing
a great job of turning this fire bomber back into a WWII Warbird.
While we are trying to raise the last $4000 for her paint the plan is to
acquire the radio gear and get it mounted in place. The next phase which is
going on concurrently is to obtain the connectors and then once all of the
junction boxes are set up and wire runs are identified we will begin wiring
up all of the radio and radar. The working sets will be bench checked and
installed. She will be a flying ham shack complete with trailing and fixed
antennas.
Thanks in advance for any help you all can give. Besides the ARB racks we
still need APS-3 components and some connectors for many of the different
sets especially the ARC-5.
Here is a quick list of radios and systems in this Harpoon:
ARC-5 (misc connectors, a few receivers and transmitters needed) 5 receivers
and 6 transmitters were onboard both in use and on storage racks)
ART-13 (still need the CU-25 antenna leading unit and antenna capacitor)
ARB x2 (shock mount/racks needed)
ARN-8 (receiver and shock mount still needed)
APN-1 radar altimeter
APS-3 search radar (several components and connectors needed)
SCR-269 radio compass (not the ARN-7!)
AIA-2 interphone (still need several C-70 station boxes)
APX-2 IFF
APA-16 radar adapter (still need the range marker unit SN-12/APA-16)
We're getting really close!
We are also a 501C3 nonprofit organization should a tax deduction be of any
interest should you want to donate to this worthy project.
