I can't speak specifically to the T17, but carbon mikes vary all over the
lot in resistance as a factor of age and condition.  I measured a bunch
of them once and found resistances from 150 ohms to 3.5K ohms.  So you
can use numbers like that and measure the voltage and calculate the
current.
