[ARC5] Redux: BC-375 HV Fuses

Dave and Groups,
 Just a word here on Picofuse fuses.
 I use Picofuse fuses on the VXI instruments I build for the folks I work for.They are not in high voltage circuits; max is 24V DC and the fuse current rating is 5 amps. However, occasionally I'll have a fuse open at initial turn on of a new production unit. I then unplug all modules and components from the VXI p/s - interface pcb, replace the fuse and power up. It work. Then, one by one I plug back in all the modules and pcb's cycling the power each time. It works each time. In the end I have a working unit with no cause of fuse failure determined.
 So, be aware that Picofuse fuses can and do on occasion fail prematurely.

Robert asked about the drill size for the ends of the fuses.
or the late tests, I just tacked the PicoFuses on the outside
f the fuse bodies.  Years ago when I first messed with it,
 drilled the ends out, tacked a pigtail on the Picofuse
nd inserted it down the barrel, re-soldering the ends.
Well I finally found the one's I've drilled.

ave a star-shaped ceramic insert in the fuse barrel
ith a hole in the center to keep the fuse wire
ff the surface of the barrel.  You have to 
ack the pigtail on neatly so it will fit through

Oh ... Robert:  The drill size is 5/32, 
ut anything close works.  
Or you could just tack them on the outside, 
ut I don't recommend it.
