Nothing can go into this aircraft that isnot FAA certified for that
particular aircraft except cargo.

Surely that only goes for stuff related to operating the a/c today, ie
it must have a current radio, iff, radar etc etc ??
If one put a Command set in it then its hardly going to be used for
comms with the tower. It would only be for show, even if it had power
applied and was even capable of being listened to while in flight. And
if not connected to the battery it would simply be an ornament.
You couldn't expect to get a permit to fly in an a/c fitter only with
war time comms gear.
I think the Lanc here flown by the RAF at shows etc has its R1155/T1154
inside but of course they use a modern radio for comms (and wear silly
modern flying helmets though).
