I had a similar encounter with the (politically)Correct Air Farce.
Their attitude was:
"Boy, we don't care about that old junk.
We throw it away fast as it gets donated. 
If you don't have the money to buy a P-51D and restore it, 
you're wasting my time.  
Get back over there with the paying Rubes 
and gawk at how awesome I am"
(just before he climbed into "his" irreplaceable warbird
and showed us how "awesome" he was by screwing it
and himself into the ground at 220 knots).

Years later, I got emails from them.
Seems the times have changed.... 
You can't win airshow awards any longer 
by stripping-out a warbird and making it look all neat outside 
while turning the insides into a Cessna.
They'd heard of me and came begging 
please oh please won't you help us
get the radio gear back in working shape?
I reminded them of their previous attitude, 
of the fact that there are other groups who respected
the tools our fathers and mothers used to win that war, 
and that those groups needed my help.  
No, I don't think I can help you Mr. CAF.  
Not one bit.  In fact, I don't think I have so
much as a blown fuse for you or anyone like you.

Besides- they hacked me off when they rolled-over
like a bunch of whipped dogs and changed their name.
