By Aug. 1944, magazines like Popular Mechanics were able to start 
telling some of the "inside story" about the war effort, and flipping 
thru an old issue I found this article that I thought would be of interest:

Interesting that someone at the magazine annotated the pics with names, 
probably a legal thing at the time for their archives.  A good article 
on the Signal Corps follows on the next page, but unfortunately Google 
has redacted pages 58 and 59.   Evidently a legal thing in our time.
