[ARC5] Wrinkle paint

I have had excellent luck with the automotive exhaust-system paint
that Robert Eleazar mentioned.

However, I always paint whatever I am painting with that part lying
flat. I don't attempt to paint vertical or angled parts.

Secondly, I "force" the wrinkling with a hair-dryer or paint-stripper
set on low.

The wrinkling looks very good, although the wrinkles are a bit fine.
The original wrinkles are about twice as "coarse" as what results
with the use of the above paint.

The thicker one can apply the first coat, the more coarse the
wrinkles. But if you apply it too thick, you get blobs. It takes some
practice to get it just right.

Thirdly, I always completely strip the part I want to paint, and if
it is aluminum, I wash it with white vinegar, then rinse with water
before I start.

IMHO, a finer wrinkle is better than no wrinkle at all. :-)
