Andy,

The socket contacts on the rear connector are simple blind holes.  The 
springy part of the connection is on the male contacts.  So you can remove most 
of the solder with desoldering equipment.  Then finish up with a proper 
diameter drill bit, preferably in a drill press.

I don't think that there is any practical way to actually salvage an old 
pin.  But the male mini-banana pins are I think still available from Pomona.  
Or were a few years ago.  Both hollow rivet and threaded stud types.  
However, the length of the largest diameter solid part varies, and you need to use 
one that matches the originals.  After removing the ground wire from the 
old terminal, you can drill through the inner edge of the riveted over part, 
then heat the wiring side of the pin and pull the external part through the 
hole and terminal.  

It is also possible to remove the old connector and replace it with one 
salvaged from another set.  The results don't look too good on the inside but 
it is doable.
