I have a TN-17 tuning unit, 74-320 MHZ, which I think is the same coverage as the TN-2. I bought it for $4.00 back in the early 80's and once combined with a Northrop Ventura drone UHF command receiver to create the World's Worst FM Radio Receiver. It could receive two FM broadcast stations at once. In fact it was almost impossible to not receive two of them at the same time.
I have an APR-4Y, the 1952 version, but I have the multiband tuning unit for it.
And yes, those TN units were beautifully built. They look like a small car transmission inside.
By the way, I found the acorn tube oscillator could be replaced with an FET with absolutely minimal modification to produce a solid state VHF oscillator. Stability was not all that great, though.
