Yes.  And you would probably damage the insulator, too.  When I made my 
comment earlier, I wasn't thinking about the cans being brass.  I'm more used 
to dealing with aluminum cans on vibrators and upright mount electrolytics.  
And soldered together cans like found in BC-312's.
