[ARC5] Serial number issue in ARC-5 sets.

G'day all,

I recently acquired a BC-453, made by colonial radio (Colonial Radio) with a particular serial number on the nomen plate.

Can the group advise:

(a) Is a serial number unique across ALL the BC-45x sets? OR
(b) Is a serial number unique within the sets made by one manufacturer? (eg Colonial or Stromberg) OR
(c) Is a serial number unique within the sets made within a single contract?  (This practice would allow the same number to be used on two different sets.)

I tip (a), because this allows any item to be uniquely identified, but seek info on how serial numbers are issued, not how I IMAGINE serial numbers are issued.  A unique number allows effective recall when a defect is identified, and that is the advantage of system (a).

Is there any way I can get more info linking contract numbers to serial number issue?
