Just curious -- while reading about discussions about nomecnlature for
various units
and their upgrades and diverse versions and now this presumably ironic
comment
about surplus resale value, the question comes to my taxpayer mind:

What were some of the prices paid by the (US) armed forces for, lets us
say,
a typical Command transmitter or receiver, an ART-13, an R-390A/URR?
I read on one of the mil radio related reflectors that thousands of working
R-390A's
were destroyed to prevent them coming to the wrong hands -- is this true?

Despite my living abroad on a somewhat permanent basis I am still
taxable in the US and have to file annual IRS returns, and of course
I was tax liable when living in the US.

What were/are the mechanics of which company gets which contract
for military electronics needs and who in the military makes the decisions?

Have a nice Sunday,
Henry
