This may have been for replacement purposes much like ARC produced some ATA
transmitters after the AN/ARC-5 equipment was in production.  (I have one.)
This may also be why ARC handed that off to WE; they had shut down
production of the Model D based equipment to concentrate on the Type K based
equipment.
