I flew a test project out of Andoya Norway a few years ago flight
testing the (then)
new Ring Laser Gyro Inertials with embedded GPS in both the C-130 and P-3.
Part of the test was to dump the INS and see if we could get an inflight
alignment
above 85 North. It worked !
Can't agree more on the Northern Lights! It is a bit strange to be at
the NP and to
see the Aurora overhead and to the south. Made HF comms with Bodo Control
a bit "watery". Of course, everything is "south of the NP!
