Obtain two transformers of 12vac or 24vac rating. Connect the first in the
normal way
to power the ARC-5 receiver heaters, after rewiring the heaters for 12v if
appropriate.
Connect the 12/24vac winding of the second transformer to the 12/24vac
output of the
first. The primary winding of this second transformer now becomes the B+
winding and
you can rectify and smooth the output from it. The "heater" transformer must
be able
to supply 0.45A (24v) or 0.9A (12v) plus the current due to B+ demand. This
implies a
rating of at least 1A (24v) or 2A (12v). The "B+" transformer need not be
rated so high
(perhaps 0.5A and 1.0A respectively as a minimum). With some ingenuity, the
two
transformers and a bridge rectifier and a couple of electrolytics can be
made to fit on
the dynamotor base plate.
