It was indeed. The Convairs had a more cylindrical (constant diameter)
fuselage than the IL's or the C-46 Commando. The later CV-440s that were
retrofitted with the Allison 501D (T-56) turbines were great airplanes
and popular with the short haul airlines. The Navy and the Air Force
used them also, with the C-131H designation.
