Further testing revealed the following:

With a 10K resistor across the power supply output, B+ is 242.2 VDC, 
current drawn is 23 mA.

So, I have elected to connect two 5 watt series-connected Zener diodes 
across the output: a 120 VDC and a 130 VDC. Such a load will draw less 
than 20 mA, for a total power dissipation of 5 watts across the 10 watt Zener 
load.

The Zeners cost $.0.54 each. So, for a little more than $1.00 and a bit of 
time, I have my problem solved.
