Your right that was a while ago!!!
Sasco was on King st in Alexandria Va
As a young teen back in the early in '70's
I use to beg my dad to make the trip
down there. Grew up in MD so the trip
was about a hour. Later after I got my
drivers licence I would make the trek with
a few friends that enjoyed surplus stuff.
After visiting Sasco we would walk across
the street to the Roy Rogers(Howdy Partner!!)
for lunch and discuss how the make are new found toys
play. About 30 years ago I went looking for Sasco
and it was gone! A carpet store was in it place.
Those where the days!!!!

Wow, that was a while ago!!
I used to go to Radio Row in downtown NYC (mostly wiped out by the World
Trade Center project) when I lived in New York, but after moving to
Washington, Sasco, in Annandale, VA, became my Mecca. I was probably
there virtually every day in the 1960s and early 70s. Lots of neat
stuff. Then I started buying things directly from the GSA sales at the
Navy Yard.
