[ARC5] CBY-52232 On 160 meters

Ken,

It's part of the ATA family of radios, which preceded the ARC-5  
series.  More like the SCR-274N stuff.  The factory oscillator and PA  
padder cap settings can be readjusted to give coverage of at least  
part of the 160M band (don't remember exactly how much, it's been a  
long time).  You will have to remove the cover on the oscillator coil  
and padder variable (aluminum box just aft of the PA tubes) and close  
up the padder to around max capacity.  Replace the AL cover and then  
re-dip the PA using the PA padder under the chassis toward the front  
of the set.

Note:  Uncommon set, particularly if in good condition.  The "mod"  
above doesn't involve cutting any wires or drilling any holes and the  
radio can be returned to it's original condition but messing around  
with it like this would be frowned upon in some quarters.
