I feel a little like "Dear Abby" - repeating a favorite poem or letter. Here is the "ARC-5" screw info.: it's appeared in the past, certainly worth a repeat.

McMaster-Carr, 91793a092, 3/48 thread, 1/4 inch long.

McMaster-Carr, 91793a091, 3/48 thread, 3/16 inch long.

Their description: Type 18-8 stainless steel binding head slotted machine screw.

They come in boxes of 100. The box, which is maddeningly difficult to open, weighs 1.4 ounces. (If you just try to open the box quickly, you may give yourself a shower of screws...) The price was $8.83/100. The shipping for my order was $4.43.

There is a drawing (.GIF) on the web page for these items you can easily capture, save and print-out for reference (with your ARC stuff). I did!

The 1/4 inch length seems just about right for the covers and holding the IF transformers in place. Maybe the 3/16 inch are good for the bypass caps.? I didn't order any, so I can't vouch for the 3/16 inch length.

There was discussion a few years ago about the matching internally-toothed lockwashers. I didn't order any, so I'll live without them. None was suggested on the McMaster-Carr site - maybe that's an area where they are behind Amazon.com - no suggestions, for example: people who ordered this screw also ordered this lockwasher.

The transmitter top and bottom covers use 33 (?) screws, so don't short-change yourself. Order plenty - get together with friends and make a batch order. Bill KA3AIS
