OK.

I was going through my stash of "ARC-5" receivers today and found a BC-946B which looks
like it is a fairly decent candidate for restoration for the following reasons:

1) Miracle of miracles, it still has its original BFO transformer and audio transformer.(!)

2) The outer case is in decent condition, with only a couple of added holes near the back of
one side.

3) The front panel and top are in decent condtion.

However, there have been the usual ham mods done to the box in front, an AC supply has
been mounted on a plate over the dynamotor shock-mounts, and the dynamotor connector
has been removed, as has the power connector on the rear panel. The power connector has
been replaced by a small plate with a fuse holder and a grommet for the AC cord mounted in
its place.

The triple 0.22 MFD cap and the hash choke have been removed and an electrolytic
capacitor has been mounted there on a home-made bracket for the AC power supply filter.

Some of the can-type caps have been replaced with those purple caps that looks somewhat
like orange drops, and a couple of other reversible mods have been done to the electronics,
among which is a crystal-controlled mod of the BFO with a 239 Khz crystal mounted. I have
documentation of the mods, and all could be easily reversed.

My question is, "Is this worth restoring to sell, to keep, or should I just sell it, or keep it as is?"

Opinions, comments, curses, suggestions?
