Greedy, aren't you. :-)
First off, I know I owe out some 100% Kona to a few folks but that's a
separate subject. Anyway, here's the deal. We have these small bags of
Kona coffee - something like 4-6 oz, as I recall - and I would be happy to
use them as bait ... errr, bribes to get some information on GF/RU &
SCR-A*-183 equipment. For those who aren't coffee drinkers, I haven't a lot
to offer except maybe macadamia nuts since our locally grown tea is not
terribly good. In fact, it's pretty terrible. (Our locally grown tobacco
is rolled into cigars which are sold in ABC stores in Waikiki to
unsuspecting tourists who are unaware of the detail that it is in the ten
worst leafs grown. That's pretty much out too since there are already quite
enough voodoo dolls of me already.)
Here's what I have as far as manuals go including those for non-ARC built
units:
* RAJ
* GF & RU-2
* GF-5/RU-7
* GF-11/RU-16
* GF-12/RU-17
* RU-18 & RU-19
* SCR-AC-183
* SCR-AO-283 (Prelim)
* SCR-AS-183
I also have the following material:
* The information presented on Mike Hanzs site
* The information distributed recently by Phil regarding the
SCR-A*-183/-283 coil sets
* Most of if not all of the information presented on these lists
* Various memos and other documents of historic interest but
containing no technical information
Here's what I need:
* ARC Part Numbers for the ARC-built Model D-based equipment not
included in the above list (These are usually in the parts lists.)
* Navy Type Numbers for the various components (i.e., 46048 through
46048D, 46051 46051A, 52063 52063A and other variations as well as major
differences among the early models) and what the differences were,
especially those causing incompatibilities between systems.
* Which [Navy] systems used which bitzenpieces.
* Differences between the components of the various versions of the
SCR-A*-183 & -283 (aside from changing the 2nd letter which doesnt seem to
follow electrical changes), especially those causing incompatibility
problems. (Im assuming the same changes were made in both 12 and 24v
versions.)
* Other systems with which components of the SCR-A*-183/-283
equipment was used, again with complete lists of the big pieces.
These things that would help immensely:
* TM 11-200
* Major Component lists, parts lists & schematics of the equipment
not included in TM 11-200
* Major Component lists, parts lists & schematics of the equipment
not included in the GF/RU manuals on hand
* An RA/companion to help sift through all this as a second set of
eyes (among other things)
Okay, so that last aint gonna happen but I can dream, right?
Goal:
* A comprehensive cross referenced list of the Model D-derived
equipment to go with the comprehensive cross referenced lists being created
for the Type K-derived sets and the postwar Type 12 family*.
* A better insight into the technical side of ARCs history during
the 1930s in light of events surrounding the company.
* Hopeful: A better understanding of the shakeup in 1934 that put
ARC at the top of the food chain rather than RFL.
* Hopeful: A better handle on what division did what.
* The Type K and Type 12 lists are actually expansions and corrections from
those presented in my earlier publication.
This goes back to the earlier discussion on completism. Since its unlikely
Ill have properly complete systems, I can do this instead which hopefully
will help others achieve that goal.
In the meantime, Im going back to look for an ARC #7054 triple receiver
control box mount.
