Hi Joe,

Mine have the original tubes and BFOs intact. I have been running on a
reduced plate supply until some of the old caps won't tolerate even
that. After the recapping I'll still run them on lower voltage (it's
just easier). I vote for the recommendation to use a solid state BFO and
get a transistor that will operate from somewhat higher Vcc and use your
heater supply to power it with maybe a regulator. My heater supplies are
the original 24 volt circuits. In mine I would just use that.
