Excellent, Jack!  I'd forgotten all about the AN/ARA-8
add-on for the VHF command set.  I thought it was just
post-WWII.

Later the AN/ARA-25 was used with UHF command sets like
the AN/ARC-27, and the AN/ARA-31 was used with VHF-FM
sets like the AN/ARC-44, all used in a similar manner.
